Founded in 2012, A24 has quickly gained a reputation for its unique and often avant-garde content. Their catalog includes a wide range of genres, from drama and horror to comedy and documentaries. Their films often explore unconventional themes and complex characters.

A24's philosophy centers on championing bold, original storytelling by providing a platform for unique voices in the film and television industry. They prioritize creative freedom, giving filmmakers significant control over their projects to support unconventional and innovative narratives. Emphasizing quality over quantity, A24 carefully selects projects that align with their brand and values, taking risks on challenging and avant-garde stories that other studios might avoid.


The Challenge & Process

Designing the fictional A24 newsletter presented several challenges, but it was a rewarding process that allowed for creativity and skill development. One significant challenge was breaking out of the traditional designer mindset that everything needs to have perfectly set guidelines and be boxed in. A24's philosophy encouraged me to embrace a freer, more fluid approach, allowing for creativity and spontaneity in the layout. This shift required letting go of rigid structures and experimenting with different placements and overlaps of text and images to create a more dynamic and engaging visual experience.

I drew inspiration from AAA24's newsletters, which are known for their unconventional and artistic approach. This inspired me to blend imagery and text in a unique way, reflecting the innovative spirit of A24. Using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, I brought all the elements together to create an engaging newsletter.

Newsletter theme: Innovation

A24's innovation shows in their movies, through bold storytelling, diverse voices, and creative freedom. Championing unconventional narratives and supporting underrepresented filmmakers, A24 empowers storytellers to push the boundaries of traditional cinema, fostering an environment where risk-taking is celebrated.

Their innovative marketing strategies engage audiences in immersive experiences, generating anticipation long before a film's release. Embracing the unconventional and cultivating talent both in front of and behind the camera, A24 continues to redefine the cinematic landscape, leaving an indelible mark on the industry and shaping the future of filmmaking.

My design of the newsletter celebrates the theme of "innovation" by drawing readers in with dynamic and unconventional visuals, interactive elements, and content layouts that reflect A24's commitment to pushing the boundaries of creativity.

The key components of the newsletter design is the use of unconventional layouts, dynamic vibrant imagery, film stills, and eye-catching graphics, strategically incorporated to convey the innovative spirit of A24's creativity.
